Where The Story Begins...

This isn't the career path I started out on, but it is the place where I am grateful that I ended up. My fascination with the human body stemmed from my interest in the martial arts, where I learned how versatile and resilient the human body was. I was introduced to acupressure at this time and fostered an interest in shiatsu massage, which I researched on my own. This remained a hobby interest of mine throughout my University days as I pursued a Bachelor's of Science degree. During my undergrad, I was fascinated by human anatomy and physiology. However, I ended up studying insects and became an entomologist. I still retained my interest in acupressure and massage as a hobby throughout my career, right up until the day that I got laid off...

While looking for another job in my field, a friend told me about a program at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, AB. I had not realized it was possible to study this medicine in Canada, and decided to turn my hobby interest into a career. I enrolled in the Grant MacEwan acupuncture program and graduated in 2004. In 2004 I also had the opportunity to go to China and intern at the Heze Medical College studying acupuncture, moxibustion, tui na Chinese massage), and taiji quan.

The Rest of the Story...

I started my clinical practice in 2005 working in a Western medical office, and was invited back to Grant MacEwan to teach for their acupuncture program. I ended up opening my own clinic in 2008 and continued to teach and practice acupuncture in Edmonton until 2017, when I moved to Calgary, AB. to be closer to my family.

After moving to Calgary, I started to teach for the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. In addition to teaching, I also served as a council member for the CAA (College of Acupuncturists of Alberta), helping to regulate our profession for 5 years (2020-2025). I returned to private practice in 2023, joining the team at Ramsay Acupuncture and Wellness in the Ramsay neighbourhood.

Over the course of my 21 years of clinical practice, my love of human anatomy lead me to focus in on treating musculo-skeletal problems. Using a combination of traditional Chinese acupuncture, cupping therapy, and PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), I can help to reduce muscle pain and increase mobility. This allows for a better quality of life, and can also increase performance in amateur or professional sports.
