Seminars: Clinical Gems

These short seminars are an excellent way to discover new clinical gems that you can apply right away in your clinical practice. They focus in on the treatment of one muscle or area that can drastically improve clinical outcomes when incorporated into your patient's treatments. Since these are focused, and are only open to a maximum of 6 students, it will be easy to remember and apply the treatments that are shown during the 1.5 hour sessions.

Slumped Shoulders and pectoralis minor

In today's world of staring at computer and phone screens, our posture is taking a hit. A major contributor to rounded shoulder posture is pectoralis minor shortening. In this seminar, you will learn how to assess pectorlalis minor, and the location of the motor point used to treat it. Easy stretches and exercises with be shared to increase the efficacy of the treatment.

Soleus and tibialis posterior: The forgotten calf muscles

Many people suffer from tight calves, which can lead to heel and foot pain. In treating this condition, many jump straight to the gastrocnemius in treatments and forget about these two muscles (which can also be problematic in shin splints!). In this short seminar we will cover the three motor points of the soles, and a motor point for the tibia's posterior. Specific stretches will be shown for these muscles as well.

Flexor carpi ulnaris in ulnar nerve impingement

The flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) muscle is usually a major culprit in pinky and ring finger numbness/tingling, and aching pain in the inner aspect of the elbow, forearm, and/or wrist. This is usually caused by repetitive strain from typing on computers (especially laptops), and also seen in practitioners who do a lot of sliding cupping therapy in their practices. In this short seminar, we will cover the motor point of the FCU, as well as an adjacent and distal point that may aid in the treatment of this muscle.

SCM, Levator scapula: Torticollis neck pain

The SCM and elevator scapula are two muscles that are often affected in neck pain, but rarely adequately addressed during treatments. In this workshop, proper location and needling of these muscle motor points will be shown, as well as stretches that can help alleviate the pain associated with tension in these muscles.
